Arnica Chomissonis

Perennial (Zone 3)

20” Tall

Plant 6”-10” Apart

Arnica chamissonis is a creeping perennial native to the American Mountain West and has the same anti-inflammatory properties as the European native Arnica montana according to testing done in Germany (A. montana is much fussier to cultivate and the wild European populations are being threatened by overharvesting). The yellow flowers can be used fresh, dried, or in salves on unbroken skin to reduce swelling and bruising and to ease arthritic joints. The plant yields well with multiple flower stalks blooming for an extended period. As an added benefit the flowers are also very attractive to pollinators.
