A staple for the late fall harvest and often for us one of the last edible plants left in the garden. The tall stalks of dense sweet sprouts take a while to develop, but they can stand up to the cold, and some say even taste better after the first hard frost. They prefer rich soils, and topping the plants in early September leads to bigger sprouts and better overall yields. Kept refrigerated or in a root cellar they will store well into the winter.
