Catnip
Nepeta cataria
Perennial (Zone 3)
Full to Partial Sun
60-75 Days to Harvest
24”-48” Tall
Plant 12”-18” Apart
Cats seem to like it. Bees also really like the flowers. People also use the leaves in teas to help calm upset stomachs and to relieve fevers. Other people find that crushing the leaves and rubbing them on the skin makes a top notch mosquito repellant (personally I’ve found it definitely helps). Likes rich or sandy soils, but also grows well in poor soils and can tolerate droughts. After the first year you can harvest the top ¾ of the plant and hang the branches upside out of direct sunlight to dry.
