White Sage

Salvia apiana

Tender Perennial (Zone 7)

Full to Partial Sun

24”-36” Tall

Plant 24” Apart

Native to the Southwest of the US and Northwestern Mexico, and grows naturally on the edge of deserts. It has been used by Native cultures as a food source (from the seeds), medicinally, and ceremonially. It is probably the most popular plant to use for smudging. The plants prefer well drained soils and dry conditions, and can be grown well in a container, bringing them inside before the first frost to overwinter.
